Early life[edit]
Jossa was born in the London Borough of Bexley.[2] She trained at D&B Theatre School inBromley followed by the Royal Academy of Music in London.[1]
Acting career[edit]
Jossa was cast in EastEnders in 2010 as Lauren Branning, taking over from Madeline Duggan who played the role from 2006 to 2010.[3] Jossa was "excited" to join the show, saying she has always been a fan.[3] Her first appearance was on 27 September 2010.[4]Jossa also appears in Lauren's internet spin-off series, Lauren's Diaries, with two series in 2010 and 2011.[5]
In 2013 she also appeared as a panellist on the BBC Three comedy panel show Sweat the Small Stuff.[6]
Awards and nominations[edit]
Jossa was nominated in the category of "Best Soap Newcomer" at the 2011 TV Choice Awards.[7] On the 25th January Jossa won "Best Newcomer" at the National Television Awards in 2012.[8] She was shortlisted in the category "Sexiest Female" in the "British Soap Awards 2012" but lost to Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) of Coronation Street.[9]In 2013, Jossa was nominated for Best Actress and won it at the TV Choice Awards.
Personal life[edit]
In 2011, Jossa started a relationship with EastEnders co-star Tony Discipline.[10] Co-star Shona McGarty also started a relationship with Discipline's on-screen brother, Matt Lapinskas.[10] Jossa said that she initially rejected Discipline.[11] She also added that she knew Discipline before he joined the cast of EastEnders.[11] On 28 July 2013, it was announced that Jossa & Discipline had separated after being in a relationship for a year and a half.
